What is an elopement?
Good question. Plenty of definitions out there, but here's the one we work with:
An elopement is a small party wedding. It's about celebrating YOU and your lives, about what you two feel is most important to you on your most important day.
The difference from a regular wedding with 100+ people is that the couple decides where & when & the theme of their day, not their relatives, nor their religion. It can be super traditional, or super strange - this is YOUR wedding day, I'm just the guide that helps pull the whole thing off.

We do things a bit differently around here at Modern Outlaw Weddings. This is about authentic beauty, honesty, and the celebration of the sacred traditions of our forebears.

I do love elopement weddings, but for me, the idea of tradition doesn't reach back to only the 1950s. No; tradition includes Roman weddings, Greek and Indo-European weddings, Viking and Scandinavian, Celtic, Gaelic, and Britton traditions - all of them are valid and worth celebrating!
I'm even keen to do a post-apocalyptic, cyberpunk elopement that takes us from the ruins of an old factory, then cruise through Chinatown, and eventually end up at a rave. Steampunk? Equestrian? Monster trucks and muscle cars? Yes, please! Give me a theme, tell me what you want, and then let's work together to create a modern legacy for you.
At the end of the day, it's your wedding - you get to determine what it looks like, not anyone else!
